Three Malian artists to tour the U.S. in Oct.-Nov. 2016 through the Cradle of Jazz Project, highlighting the roots of jazz and blues through the music of their instruments.
What would jazz sound like if we understood the theory of its roots? The Cradle of Jazz Project brings Western music theory to musically gifted West African youth, and West African music theory to American students. The video below describes historical evidence linking the Mande to the colonial U.S.
